BCSA Appoints First Ever Irish Regional Chairman

A select group of 9 Irish steel engineering companies has recently made history by becoming the first ever Irish Region of the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA).

The BCSA, a UK organisation formed in 1936 to represent and support the interests of member steel companies, had historically restricted membership solely to companies based in the UK.

The move towards inviting the formation of an Irish region is seen as a significant and progressive step, and one that will ultimately help promote the interests of Irish steel companies in both the UK and Irish construction markets

Andrew Mannion has been appointed Chairman of the new region, and was presented with his chain of office at a special BCSA committee meeting held this month. Mr. Mannion is MD of one of Ireland’s leading steel fabricating companies, AMSE Ltd. based in Westmeath.

Speaking on his new appointment Mannion said,

“The formation of an Irish Region of the BCSA is a very significant step, that will not only encourage the development of cross-border and cross-channel trade by Irish and UK steel companies, but also facilitate the collaboration of ideas between the two jurisdictions as we begin to work more closely together”.

“Furthermore, the support network offered by the BCSA will assist with the professional development of Irish steel companies as we continue to expand and innovate” he explained.
